Built on community.
Founded in Chicago in 1985 by a small group of Latino architecture professionals, Arquitectos began with a shared vision: to create a community where Latino and Hispanic architects could connect, grow professionally, and gain greater visibility within the architectural profession.
What began as a grassroots effort to expand access to mentorship, professional development, and meaningful relationships has evolved into Arquitectos, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing opportunities throughout the built environment.
Today, Arquitectos brings together architects, engineers, designers, contractors, landscape architects, urban planners, students, and allied professionals from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. Through educational programming, scholarships, professional recognition, and community engagement, the organization continues to honor its founding purpose while creating new pathways for collaboration, leadership, and professional growth.
More than four decades after its founding, Arquitectos remains grounded in the belief that meaningful progress begins with connection—and that a stronger architectural profession is built by creating opportunities for those who will shape its future.

Arquitectos is focused on strengthening its national network, expanding access to mentorship and professional development, supporting students and emerging professionals, and fostering meaningful partnerships across disciplines and generations.
Through scholarships, student chapter initiatives, professional programming, and signature events such as the Colectivos Symposium, we continue to create spaces where ideas are exchanged, achievements are celebrated, and lasting professional relationships are formed.
Looking ahead, we seek to build upon the foundation established in 1985—extending our reach, elevating new voices, and creating opportunities for the next generation of architects and designers to thrive.
